If you want the best skin care routine, you must identify your skin type. Otherwise, you will never choose the appropriate beauty products to begin the proper care routine. So, get round to it and discover your skin type and its characteristics.
What is the point of defining the skin type?
You need that for choosing your skincare and makeup products. Thanks to the right products, your skin will get the protection from the external aggressors, the access to nutrients and all it needs for the proper functioning. Identifying the skin type isn’t as hard as it seems. Start with checking the amount of sebum and water secretion. Every skin type is characterised by different levels of hydration of the deeper layers.
Skin Types
According to dermatologists, there are four skin types:
- normal skin – it has a smooth surface without any imperfections. It is healthy and radiant. It tolerates most cosmetics and doesn’t get dehydrated by water. The amount of sebum and water in normal skin is the same.
- dry skin – it lacks hydration and needs the lipid replenishing. The function of sebum glands is poor whereas the hydro-lipid layer is very thin. Dry skin is easily affected by external and internal factors. You must care for it using products that are high in humectants and moisturising plant extracts.
- oily skin – it produces too much sebum. The work of sebaceous glands is slightly disturbed. Oily skin is characterised by an unhealthy shine, pimples, blackheads. Hair follicles are clogged, causing inflammation. Oily skin care should aim at gently removing the excess of sebum and moisturising.
- combination skin – it combines the features of oily and dry skin. The T zone is shiny whereas the skin on cheeks is very dry. It reacts wrongly to external and internal factors. You must care for combination skin using products for the oily and dry skin.
