DIY lash extensions! You are reading about them everywhere, right? So am I, and that prompted me to test them. These false cluster lashes are applied to the underside of the natural lashes, which greatly simplifies the entire application process. Since my natural eyelashes are short and sparse, I decided to see if at-home eyelash extension kits really live up to the manufacturers’ promises. I also wanted to compare products from the leading brands in this category to see how they differ. This is how I came up with my ranking of the best DIY eyelash extension kits.
DIY cluster lashes – fast and effective lash extensions
Before I get to the results of my tests and share which DIY eyelash extension kit became my favorite, I’d like to explain why I chose this method.
Since my natural eyelashes are not very thick, I have tested many traditional cluster lash sets. Unfortunately, despite some experience, I never managed to put them on well – the whole process was time-consuming and frustrating. That’s why I decided to try out DIY lash extensions kits from top beauty brands. DIY cluster lashes allow you to create spectacular makeup in a really short time. However, I noticed that the quality of your lash look largely depends on the selected brand. The best kits allow you to perform the styling in just 10 minutes, even with no prior experience! I discovered for myself that eyelash extensions have never been so easy.
Which cluster lashes are worth considering? Ranking
To assess which DIY cluster lashes are the best, I tested 5 products from renowned brands, which should theoretically ensure high quality of the cluster lashes. The user reviews were promising, but was this really the case? Well, not always. See below for details.
1. Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit
The first kit I decided to test was the Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit. Inside, I found 36 cluster lashes in three lengths (10, 12 and 14 mm), as well as a a bonder, a sealer, a remover, and an applicator. Interestingly, the cluster lashes come in eight different styles, allowing you to match the effect to any occasion – from subtle to very expressive. I was delighted by the variety of lengths and styles of the lash clusters in this kit, which gives great possibilities for stylin eyelashes, tailored to different beauty types. The application turned out to be extremely easy, mainly thanks to the included applicator, which ensured precise placement of the cluster lashes. The bonder and sealer ensured the durability of the application, while the remover made it possible to remove the lashes easily and safely without the risk of damaging the natural lashes.
The application went much faster than I expected – the whole process took me only 8 minutes. The lashes looked natural, highlighting the eyes beautifully and adding definition. What’s more, everyday eyelash care did not cause any difficulties, which is another advantage of this kit.
Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit is an excellent choice for both beginners and those who already have some experience with eyelash extensions. With a wide selection of lash styles, you can create both delicate and more dramatic looks. The durability of the lashes during daily wear was really impressive – they looked impeccable for a whole week. I would definitely recommend the Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit to anyone looking for an effective and easy-to-use solution for at-home eyelash extensions.
2. Lilac St Intro Starter Kit
The next kit I decided to test was the Lilac St Intro Starter Kit. In the box, I found 30 cluster eyelashes in three sizes: 10, 12, and 14 mm, which is similar to the professional Nanolash kit. I was curious to see how it would perform in comparison.
The kit included Lilac Lash Glue in Clear, Lilac Lash Applicator, and Crystal Coat. After opening the box, I immediately noticed that the lashes were soft, lightweight, and came on a thin black strip, promising good quality.
However, the application took me longer than I expected – about 15 minutes, which was longer compared to other kits I tested. Nevertheless, the final result was satisfying.
On the manufacturer’s website, I read that you can even sleep wearing these lashes, so I decided to test that. The lashes stayed on my eyelids for 5 days, which confirmed their durability. I bought this kit on a special offer, so I felt happy with my purchase. However, if I had to pay the full price, I might have felt that I overpaid a bit.
3. TATTI Invisi-Lash Kit
The TATTI Invisi-Lash Kit is a product that caught my eye because there is no latex in the lash clusters. This is a huge advantage for women who struggle with allergies. However, it is worth noting that this aspect is standard in the case of Nanolash cluster lashes.
Invisi-Lash Kit is great for both professional and home use. In the box, you will find lashes in different sizes, which gives you the possibility to create any lash style. The manufacturer promises that the application takes only a few minutes and lasts for several days.
Unfortunately, applying TATTI cluster lashes turned out to be more difficult than using Nanolash cluster lashes, which is the main drawback of this product. It’s also worth noting that the Invisi-Lash clusters are designed for one-time use only. Unlike the DIY Lash Extensions from Nanolash, which many users successfully reuse, there is no such option here.
4. Glamnetic Lash Extension Kit
Next on my list to test was the Glamnetic Lash Extension Kit. The manufacturer claimed that the lashes from this kit would last up to 5 days. I tried to care for them daily, avoiding rubbing my eyes. As a result, once I put them on on Thursday, I could enjoy them until next Monday. The kit included a remover and sealer, which reminded me of the kit from Nanolash.
The Glamnetic Lash Extension Kit provides different styles of cluster lashes, as well as a Bonder and an applicator, which should make the application easier. However, as someone who appreciates a natural look, I was a bit disappointed – the cluster lashes did not look like a premium product. The final effect did not look natural, which made me uncomfortable wearing them.
Despite the robust accessory selection and the promise of long-lasting durability, in the end, the Glamnetic Lash Extension Kit did not meet my expectations, mainly due to the not-so-natural look of the lashes.
5. Lashify Starter Kit
At the very end of my tests, I decided to try the Lashify Starter Kit, a kit that, due to its higher price, raised my expectations in terms of quality. After opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised, as the cluster lashes looked very good and were soft enough to resemble natural lashes.
The application turned out to be quick and hassle-free, and the lashes lasted on my eyelids for 5 days, which is a definite plus. However, the kit contained only 10 cluster lashes, which, despite their high quality, made me unlikely to purchase this product again.
Although the Lashify Starter Kit impressed me with the quality of the lashes and the easy application, the limited number of clusters in the kit was a big downside for me.
DIY cluster lashes – which ones are the best?
Of all the lash extension kits I tested, each of them provided satisfactory results, although some had more disadvantages than benefits. The Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit, however, proved to be my favorite. The products included in this kit stand out due to their high quality and the price which, compared to Lashify, is very competitive.
If you are thinking of trying DIY eyelash extensions, I strongly encourage you to do so – currently I think it is one of the most convenient solutions. Of course, I leave the choice of a specific kit to you. I hope you will find something that suits your needs perfectly.
